Why should the arts matter to Christians?
The link between faith and the arts is as old as history. But many contemporary Christians see the arts as an amusing luxury or pleasant ornament, irrelevant to a broken world in need of the Gospel. Jeremy Begbie will challenge this. Using images, recordings, and live performances on the piano, he will show that the arts in general—and music in particular—have the power to open up a Christian worldview like nothing else and transform our lives in the process.
Music and Arts will welcome Dr. Jeremy Begbie on September 19 at 7:00 p.m. Dr. Begbie, a theologian, teacher, speaker, and musician, is an ordained minister of the Church of England and a systematic theologian whose primary research is the correlation between theology and the arts. He currently is a professor of theology at Duke University and an affiliated lecturer in the Faculty of Music at Cambridge University. No tickets are required.
